Louise and Lochie

About Us

Lochie and Louise MacGillivray own Tawa Stables, after moving to the property in December 2007.  They have immediately set about refurbishing and renovating the property back to its former glory, and to meet the needs of riders at the present time.

Prior to moving to Ngatarawa Road and Tawa Stables, Lochie and Louise were Sheep, Deer and Cattle farmers in the Maraetotora Valley, Hawkes Bay.  A change in careers, lifestyle and the needs of three growing (and horse- mad) daughters led them to purchase Tawa Stables.

Lochie now works as a Farm Consultant in Hastings and is putting his AgCom degree to good use. Louise has recently retired from practicing Family Law after 21 years, and looks forward to managing and marketing Tawa Stables, as well as having the time to create a garden.

Lochie and Louise aim not only to provide themselves with an attractive and happy environment; but to share it with others so that there is an active “buzz” around the property.  They believe that their love of animals, their farming knowledge and their keenness to meet and get along with people will create a happy and supportive atmosphere for both people and horses.

You will find Lochie and Louise approachable and happy to answer any of your queries.  Their daughters can also be relied upon for a nice chat and a laugh; they are slowly learning to tone down their loud voices now that they live closer to town, however old habits can die hard!
